About Grafe Auction

Grafe Auction helps businesses sell commercial and industrial assets nationwide. Our auctions include equipment from grocery stores, warehouses, commercial kitchens, manufacturing facilities, corporate offices, and other business environments.

We’re looking for an SEO & Content Specialist to help sellers and buyers find Grafe and get useful answers from our website. We have years of content, an active auction calendar, and opportunities to improve how that information is organized, maintained, and discovered.

About the role

You’ll work with our Director of Marketing to improve Grafe’s visibility in traditional search and AI-driven search experiences. This includes search engine optimization (SEO), answer engine optimization (AEO), and generative engine optimization (GEO).

A substantial part of the work will involve our existing website: organizing related articles into topic hubs and supporting pages, updating useful content, consolidating overlapping articles where appropriate, improving internal links, and managing redirects. You’ll also research, write, edit, and publish new content for sellers and buyers.

You’ll agree on priorities and a publishing schedule with the Director of Marketing, balancing new content with improvements to the existing website. You’ll complete improvements within your access, give developers clear requirements for platform changes, and verify those changes after release.

Early priorities include assessing the existing site, establishing performance baselines, and completing priority content and technical improvements. We’ll use those findings to set ongoing goals.

What you’ll do

  • Audit existing content and prioritize pages to update, expand, combine, or retire based on their usefulness and performance.
  • Build topic hubs and supporting content that connect related questions, equipment categories, auction services, and relevant pages.
  • Plan and implement appropriate redirects, canonical tags, and internal-link updates when content changes, coordinating with developers where needed.
  • Write and publish articles, service pages, FAQs, and other useful content. Work with Grafe’s team to turn equipment knowledge and auction experience into accurate, practical information.
  • Research search terms, questions, and audience intent to identify opportunities for both new content and improvements to existing pages.
  • Monitor crawling, indexing, sitemaps, broken links, structured data, and page performance. Fix issues within your access and provide developers with clear requirements for platform changes.
  • Help improve how active and completed auction and lot pages are organized and discovered.
  • Test ways to improve visibility in AI-generated answers, track observations, and distinguish useful evidence from assumptions.
  • Use Google Search Console, GA4, and other tools to monitor results and connect the work to relevant traffic, seller inquiries, and buyer engagement.
  • Keep priorities organized, verify completed changes, and explain what improved, what didn’t, and what to try next.

What helps you succeed

We’re looking for at least three years of hands-on SEO experience, including content optimization and technical SEO. You should be able to show improvements you helped plan, implement, and measure. We’ll also consider candidates with less experience who demonstrate comparable depth and results. No specific degree is required.

We’re looking for someone who can:

  • Write clearly, edit carefully, check facts, and publish through a content management system.
  • Apply on-page and technical SEO fundamentals, including internal linking, redirects, canonicalization, crawlability, and indexing.
  • Use Google Search Console and GA4 to investigate performance and decide what needs attention.
  • Work with a site crawler such as Screaming Frog and a research tool such as Semrush or Ahrefs, or comparable tools.
  • Prioritize useful work, make routine improvements independently, and recognize when a change needs developer or marketing input.
  • Explain technical findings in plain language and follow up until the work is complete.

Experience reorganizing an established website, consolidating content, working with structured data, or supporting a site migration is especially useful. Basic HTML is helpful; you don’t need to be a software developer.

Familiarity with AI-driven search is helpful. Strong SEO fundamentals, sound judgment, and a willingness to test and learn matter more than years of experience with any particular AI platform.

Prior auction or equipment-industry experience is not required. You’ll learn from people who work with these assets and customers every day.

Pay and benefits

  • Salary of $65,000–$75,000 annually, depending on relevant experience.
  • Company-paid employee health insurance premiums. Coverage begins the first of the month following 30 consecutive days of employment. Dependent coverage is available through payroll deduction.
  • Company-paid vision coverage.
  • SIMPLE IRA employer match up to 3%.
  • Ten days of paid time off after 90 days, with additional PTO based on length of employment.
  • Seven paid holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, the day after Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
